The title of “Veteran of Labor” and legislation

First of all, here we will be interested in Federal Law No. 5 of January 12, 1995 “On Veterans”. It is this legislative act that makes it possible to divide almost all people of retirement age into particularly important categories - veterans:

“Veteran of Labor” - how many years do you need to work?

The concept of “Labor Veteran” itself presupposes a citizen’s extensive work experience, usually in one industry or enterprise. A natural question arises: how long do you need to work to get such a title?

If we talk about the assignment of federal status, then we need to distinguish two categories of subjects:

For those who have worked in one industry, it is enough to obtain a continuous work experience of 15 years, while the minimum service period must be equal to 20 years for women and 25 for men (or a long-service pension must be assigned).
Persons who began their work before reaching 18 years of age during the Second World War and have worked for at least 40 years - for men and 35 - for women.

When assigning this status, regional authorities follow the specified norms of the Federal Law (Moscow), but in some respects they can expand the list of subjects. So, for example, in the Perm Territory, the specified number of persons also includes:

having a total work experience of 35 years for women and 40 for men; provided that the citizen worked directly on the territory of the region (or former region) for half of the specified time;
women with 5 or more children, if they have 20 years of experience obtained at an enterprise in the Perm region;
persons who have certain insignia or awards (for example, an honorary citizen or a memorial sign of the Perm Territory).

In St. Petersburg, only persons who have certain regalia can receive this title (in addition to those specified in Article 7 of the Law), and their work experience is 25 and 20 years for men and women, respectively. In the Kemerovo region, the length of service requirements for some categories of workers are more inflated: 45 years for men and 40 for women.

Monetization of benefits
