The retirement age will be raised

The Russian government announced plans to seriously increase the retirement age for Russian citizens on the opening day of the World Cup, June 14, 2021, and on June 16, the corresponding bill was submitted to the State Duma for consideration. Officials proposed increasing the retirement age as part of the pension reform:

  • for 8 years for women (up to 63 years);
  • for 5 years for men (up to 65 years).

This retirement age should be gradually reached by 2028. At the same time, in 2021, according to officials’ plans, none of the ordinary pensioners should retire. However, some men and women will still have this right. But what about citizens who have reached retirement age but do not want to retire? Working pensioners are entitled to a pension recalculation. You can learn in detail about increasing the retirement age for employees under SP2 from other sources. This article is devoted to an equally important issue, which professions will not be affected by raising the retirement age.

This law was adopted in October. The retirement age will increase in 2021.

Which specialists are not covered by the law on raising the retirement age?

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova spoke about who is not affected by the increase in the retirement age at a meeting of the Russian Tripartite Commission for the Regulation of Social and Labor Relations. The official noted that the right to early retirement will remain for representatives of professions included in the so-called “small” professional lists No. 1 and No. 2.

The list of professions not covered by the pension reform will include specialists performing harmful and dangerous work, including underground work. In fact, we are talking about “pests” and representatives of other professions, for example, rescuers, representatives of civil aviation flight crews, some categories of drivers, as well as cultural workers, doctors and teachers. About the latter, in particular, it was said that these professions have “social significance”, therefore their representatives can start resting earlier.

So which professions will not be affected by the pension reform? Who exactly will be able to retire early, that is, based on length of service or 5 years earlier than other citizens?
