What holidays are included in the 2020 production calendar
The list of national Russian holidays given in Art. 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation will not change in 2020. The following are still non-working days:
- New Year and Christmas holidays (January 1-8);
- Defender of the Fatherland Day (February 23);
- International Women's Day (March 8);
- Spring and Labor Day (May 1);
- Victory Day (May 9);
- Russia Day (June 12);
- National Unity Day (November 4).
It should be taken into account that in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in addition to national holidays, non-working days may be established in connection with local or religious holidays, which means that working time standards for such a region will be different from all-Russian standards.

Often the listed holidays coincide with weekends (Saturday or Sunday). In such cases, the rule applies to transferring the day of rest to the next working day.
For a more rational distribution of non-working holidays, the Government annually issues a resolution providing for the transfer of some days off to other dates. As a rule, this approach is applied to the long New Year and Christmas holidays, when some of them join other holidays of the year. In 2020, the Government plans to make two such transfers: the weekend of January 4 and 5, which coincides with Saturday and Sunday, will “move” to May 4 and 5 (these are Monday and Tuesday), i.e. will join in the May Day celebration.
As a result, the 2020 production calendar forms the following "long" weekends:
- 8 days of New Year and Christmas holidays (from January 1 to January 8);
- 3 days of rest on Defender of the Fatherland Day (February 22, 23, 24);
- We will rest for 3 days on March 8 (March 7, 8, 9);
- 5 days of “vacation” will occur on May Day (from May 1 to May 5);
- We rest for 3 days on Victory Day (May 9, 10, 11);
- 3 days of rest fall on Russia Day (June 12, 13, 14).
National Unity Day in 2020 included only one non-working day – November 4, which fell on a Wednesday.

Determination of standard working hours
Working hours norms shifts in the corresponding calendar periods are calculated on the basis of Order No. 588n of the Ministry of Health and Social Development.
Paragraph 1 of this order establishes that the norm is determined based on the schedule of a 5-day work week:
- at 40 hours work. week - 8 hours;
- less than 40 hours – the number of hours is determined by dividing the duration of work. weeks for 5.
Thus, the standard working hours. day or shift will be as follows:
- at 24 hours work. week - 4.8 hours;
- at 35 hours - 7 hours;
- at 36 hours - 7.2 hours;
- at 39 hours - 7.8 hours.
Duration of work shifts before the holiday are shortened by an hour. If a holiday falls on a weekend, the latter is transferred to the next working period after the holiday.
In particular, the slave norm. time of a certain month is calculated as follows:
Norm = (Duration of a week of labor (40, 36, etc.) / by 5 X per Number of calendar working days of a 5-day week per year) - Number of hours per year by which labor time is reduced on the eve of holidays
Reduced working hours before holidays
According to Art. 95 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, work on the day before a “non-working” holiday should be reduced by one hour. The working day calendar for 2020 defines such “shortened” days as:
- April 30 (on the eve of May Day);
- May 8 (before Victory Day);
- June 11 (before Russia Day);
- November 3 (before National Unity Day);
- December 31 (New Year's Eve).
In total, in 2020, the “shortened” for those who work a “five-day week” will be 5 working days.

Norms for the working time calendar for 2020
Regardless of how many days a week a Russian works, when calculating the standard working time, a five-day working week schedule is invariably applied (taking into account the length of the shift/working day). Calculation of the norm for a month, quarter or year is carried out in accordance with the Procedure, approved. by order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development dated August 13, 2009 No. 588n.
To calculate the working hours for a month you need to:
multiply the weekly standard of working time, divided by 5 days, by the number of working days in the month, and subtract the hours by which work is reduced before the holidays.
Example
The timesheet calendar for 2020 in April includes one day (April 30), in which work is reduced by 1 hour. The number of working days in April (according to the “five-day calendar”) is 22. Let’s calculate what the April working hours will be (for a working week of 40 hours, 36 hours and 24 hours).
With a 40-hour week, the norm will be:
40 hours: 5 days. x 22 work. days – 1 hour = 175 hours.
For a 36-hour week the norm is:
36 hours: 5 days. x 22 work. days – 1 hour = 157.4 hours.
When working 24 hours a week, the norm in April is:
24 hours: 5 days. x 22 work. days – 1 hour = 104.6 hours.
Based on the above calculation formula, in general, the calendar sheet for 2020 provides the following annual production standards:
- for a 40-hour week – 1979 hours;
- when working 36 hours a week – 1780.6 hours;
- with a 24-hour work week – 1185.4 hours.
More detailed working time norms (in days and hours) for the “five-day week” and six-day week, relevant in 2020, are presented in the table below:

“Six days”: production calendar 2020 with holidays and weekends
For Russians, whose working week lasts not five, but six days, the work calendar for 2020 will look slightly different. A work schedule of six days a week is allowed by the Labor Code of the Russian Federation (Articles 100, 111), but the duration of weekly working hours does not differ from the norms of a “five-day week” - it should not exceed 40 hours (Article 91 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
In a six-day week, there is only one day off (usually Sunday), and Saturday is considered a working day. In this regard, not all postponements of holiday weekends will be relevant during the “six-day” period. Thus, in 2020, the transfer of the day of rest on January 4 (Saturday) to May 4 (Monday) will not affect Russians working 6 days a week.
Reducing the working day by one hour before a non-working holiday also applies under this regime, while work on the day before the holiday should not exceed 5 hours (Article 95 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). For the six-day regime, the 2020 production calendar contains seven “shortened” working days:
- February 22 (before Defender of the Fatherland Day);
- March 7 (the day before March 8);
- April 30 (before May Day);
- May 8 (before Victory Day);
- June 11 (before Russia Day);
- November 3 (on the eve of National Unity Day);
- December 31 (New Year's Day).
The six-day workday calendar in 2020 includes 300 days, and weekends and holidays will last a total of 66 days.
For the “six-day” calendar 2020 with holidays and weekends, taking into account the draft resolution “On the transfer of weekends”, will look like this:
Production calendar in 2020 with a five-day work week
Since most private and public organizations work 5 days a week, the calendar is compiled according to a schedule - working days from Monday to Friday and weekends - Saturday, Sunday. All days for legal rest (weekends and holidays) are marked in blue, green - shortened days.
With a six-day work week, companies can use the 2020 production calendar with week numbers to quickly calculate workdays and weekends.
